2. a piece of burning wood, often used to stir the fire and/or spread it by starting other fires!

Firebrand [N] Isaiah 7:4, Amos 4:11, Zechariah 3:2, denotes the burnt end of a stick (Hebrew 'ud); in Judges 15:4, a lamp or torch, a flambeau (Hebrew lappid); in Proverbs 26:18 (Compare Ephesians 6:16), burning darts or arrows.

The firebrand I speak of is God's firebrand. Those who are truly servants of God possess this brand, but they often prove to be in a small minority. In fact, they are so distinct that they appear to be numbered among a very few in their generation.
